Commitment to Positive Impact

At United Hospitality Management, we believe that our responsibility extends beyond our properties to giving back to the communities and environments where we operate. Guided by our core values, UHM is dedicated to making a positive and lasting impact through a robust corporate citizenship program built on sustainability, community partnership, and ethical governance, contributing positively to the communities in which we operate and supporting a more sustainable future for our industry.

We comply with the international sustainability and ESG standards established by our partners and brands, such as Marriott International, Hyatt, Mövenpick, Bespoke, IHG, Accor, Wyndham, YOTEL, as well as all applicable local laws, regulations, and authority requirements in the markets where we operate.

OUR APPROACH

Beyond compliance, we are dedicated to implementing actions that reflect the communities we serve, the environments we steward, and the people we work with.

Environment

Reducing our energy and water footprint, managing waste responsibly, and protecting the natural landscapes on which our destinations depend.

  • We use a range of approaches to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions across our properties — from centralized energy monitoring and intelligent climate control systems to solar thermal technology and LED lighting. Within our resorts, electric vehicle charging stations and electric transport fleets support low-carbon mobility, and low-carbon menu options have been introduced across our restaurants. GRMS (Guest Room Management System) is utilized to optimize energy consumption in rooms.

  • We are actively reducing waste at every level — replacing single-use plastics with glass, reusable amenities and sustainable packaging; composting green waste through certified partnerships; and tackling food waste through smarter portioning, buffet management and food-rescue initiatives. Waste is tracked by type, and we continue to roll out paperless operations and digital processes across our portfolio.

  • We manage our landscapes with care, prioritizing native plant species and reusing vegetation waste as organic mulch to eliminate the need for external soil inputs. Grey water treatment plants are introduced at properties to ensure efficient recycling of water. We also work in partnership with the University of Algarve on species selection and habitat management.

  • We hold Green Key certification across multiple properties and embed environmental awareness into our culture through training, awareness campaigns, and internal sustainability champions who drive green practices at property level every day.

Community

We invest in the regions where we operate — through local sourcing, volunteer partnerships, social programmes, and inclusive economic participation.

Local Sourcing

We prioritise regional suppliers and producers across Food & Beverage, supporting local economies and reducing the environmental cost of our supply chains.

Volunteer Programmes

Teams across our portfolio take part in structured volunteering — from school programmes to community events — driven by colleagues who choose to give their time.

Food Rescue

We partner with local authorities to ensure surplus meals reach those who need them, reducing food waste and contributing to food security in the areas where we operate.

Education & Training

Through the Junior Achievement Academy, Be Bright Academy and our own Excellence Hub, we invest in skills development for both young people and our own teams.

Somos Mais — Social Initiative

Somos Mais (We Are More) is United Hospitality Management's Social Responsibility programme, connecting our properties with local communities through solidarity events, meal donation, fundraising, and partnerships with local charities and institutions that champion social inclusion — such as Refood and Make-A-Wish. Operating as a network, each property contributes to the social fabric of its own region.

Governance

We operate with transparency and accountability — honouring the trust of our guests, partners, owners, and the people who work with us.

Compliance

We operate in full alignment with applicable laws and regulations across every market, and uphold the ESG standards of our brand partners. Ethics training is mandatory across all properties.

Excellence Hub

Our Excellence Hub is a dedicated training and assessment centre built to ensure that every front line and managerial associate- in every property — delivers a consistent, world-class guest experience. Certification is not optional. It is how we define readiness.

Phase 1
Refresher & Mastery

Associates undergo intensive instruction led by industry experts — focusing on the fundamentals of exceptional service: attention to detail, consistency, and precision in every guest interaction.

Phase 2
Immersive Practice & Evaluation

Specialist labs replicate real hotel scenarios. Participants complete practical sessions followed by structured assessments testing the real-world application of their skills across F&B, Front Office, and Housekeeping.

Phase 3
Certification

A rigorous final assessment certifies each associate's commitment to UHM's service standards. Only certified personnel proceed. This is how we protect quality — and how we invest in careers.
